Summer Solstice Potluck at Telegraph Cove
Families and friends are welcome to join us for our annual Summer Solstice Potluck at Telegraph Cove. This year the potluck will be held on Wednesday June 22th.
Potluck Details
We will be arriving as a cycling school bus and city bus sometime around noon.
Our plan is to leave the school around 10:30. Most students will be travelling by bike, with a small group on the city bus. We plan to arrive at the beach around noon.
We will be at the beach all afternoon. Please make sure your child is prepared with a sun hat and long sleeved shirt. If your child needs to wear sunscreen, please apply it in the morning and teach your child to reapply it themselves if necessary.
Parents are expected to join us by 3:30pm unless your child is in out of school care. All children must be picked up from the beach as we will not be returning as a group to the school. Bike transportation from the beach is also a parent responsibility. If you are unable to pick up your child from the beach, please make sure you make your own arrangements for another parent to take responsibility for your child.
What to Bring:
Bring your own dishes and a meal to share. Vegetarian is the suggested choice as many families are vegetarian or on restricted diets. All dishes should be labeled with a list of ingredients to assist with allergies and dietary restrictions. There will likely be a few meat dishes. If you bring a meat dish please clearly label it as such.

We love to have canoes and double kayaks if you are willing to bring one! Anyone can bring lifejackets, as we need an assortment of sizes if children are going out in boats. We also often have a Pit Cook. If you want to bring vegetables to be cooked in the pit, it must arrive early.
Permission Forms:
Permission forms must be signed or your child will be disappointed.
Permission forms are being done electronically this year. You should have received them by email. Permission forms for the field trip must be sent to us from the parent's normal email address prior to children going on the trip.
In addition to the normal permissions required for all field trips, you must fill in a special section of the form if you are allowing your child to go out in a boat. If we do not have this permission, your child will not be allowed to go in a boat until you arrive to supervise. If you prefer this, please make sure your child understands when s/he will be able to go in a boat (or not at all as the case may be.)
Potluck Location:
The Potluck is located at the beach at the end of Telegraph Bay Road.
