Pre-primary Program
Oak and Orca Pre-primary school is a school for children aged 3-5 years. While this is a licensed child-care facility, it run as a school since our activities are playful, yet our goals are educational.
New Facility
The new facility will be opening in October 2009.
Our new facility is currently under renovation. It will be ready soon, with plans underway to open October 15th 2009. The facility is located adjacent to the existing Oak and Orca School off Higgins Street in Victoria. Parking will be on Higgins street for both facilities. The location is near the crossing of Cook St. and Hillside Ave.
Program Summary
Children are encouraged to explore and make choices based on their interests and readiness.
Oak and Orca Pre-primary school is a place of exploration and investigation. Educators are trained in the bioregional methods of the school to encourage natural learning in all areas.
They offer experiential learning activities and workshops throughout the day. Alternately, children may choose age-appropriate child-directed learning activities in the Open Classroom. Choices allow children to be provided with experiences that broaden the scope of their natural learning, without being required to always do what the group is doing. This system offers a balance of independent and group activities.
