Affordable Choice
Oak and Orca is an independent school in British Columbia, Canada. We receive funding from the provincial government because we meet their criteria, in particular the BC curriculum. Our funding is equivalent to 50% of the operating grant provided to public schools (per student.) This funding covers only 1/2 of our operating costs, so we must supplement our income in order to pay for our capital and operating costs.
Because we are committed to including all families in our school, it is always a challenge to come up with the rest of the funds. We keep our tuition fees very low, and provide options for low income families to be included. We ask families to participate as much as possible in the school including many fundraising activities.
Choice in education is a parent's right.
In summary,
- families have a right to choose from many educational alternatives
- Oak and Orca is supported by the BC government with a per student grant equivalent to 50% of the operating allowance provided to public schools in the same district
- We are committed to low tuition fees and options for low income families
