Animal Week (July 19th to 23rd)
During Animal Week, we will be learning about the animals that live in our local bioregion. Animals are synonymous with fascination and fun, and the week should be an interesting discussion of how animals live and our relationship with them.
Tuesday July 20th
Biking to Swan Lake
Our first field trip will be biking down to Swan Lake for the infamous Reptile Day. Reptile Day is an exposition bonanza filled with a scaly, snaky, slithering spectrum of species along with informative discussions about the nature and role of our favourite (or least favourite) fauna.
Thursday July 22nd
Biking to the Petting Zoo
On Thursday, we will be biking to the Petting Zoo, where children can observe and play with a wide variety of animals. Searching for peacocks, playing with goats, or watching birds with wide-eyed fascination are only some of the experiences the Petting Zoo has to offer.
Activities & Workshops
This grrr-eat week we will be playing animal games, making animal masks & other animal arts/crafts, hearing and telling animal stories, learning about animal life cycles, food chains, relationships with eachother and the environment, identifying local animals, footprints, sounds, and anatomy, learning about skat analysis, and discovering what to do when we encounter animals in nature. A local bird specialist may come and teach us how to make some bird calls so that we can communicate with the creatures we have been learning about.
