Important Information For New Families

Program School Tours

A tour of our school is an important step in the registration process.

Oak and Orca is the parent school of all our bioregional programs. Our philosophies, teachers and many of our activities are tried and tested at the school first. If you are new to our program, it is important to come for a tour at our school before you decide to register for the summer program. The allows a chance for you and your child to make sure that our school and program philosophies are a fit with your own.

To schedule a tour of our school please call us and ask to speak to the Summer Program Coordinator.

Our Cycling Mandate

We use a Cycling School Bus to take us to and fro...

It is important to know that we use cycling as our main transportation on all of our field trips during the summer. Children either ride their own bikes, or ride on trail-a-way bicycles or in trailers, depending on their age and ability. We have a series of tried and tested safe low-traffic routes that we use to get around the city. To attend field trips your child must have an age appropriate ability and comfort level with cycling. If you have any concerns about your child's ability or comfort level, please raise them during your tour.

Dates and Hours of Operation

Our program runs five days a week, from 9-5

Our program begins on Monday June 28th and runs through the summer to Friday September 3rd. Our program operates from 9am to 5pm, Monday through Friday.

Please make note that Thursday, July 1st and Monday, August 2nd are statutory holidays and our summer program will be closed on these days.

Program Cost

We offer full time and half time rates for our program

Full time attendance is considered 5 full days per week. Half time attendance can give you flexibility that works with your family's summer schedule, and can consist of a few days per week, half days, or specific weeks during the summer that your child wants to attend. Tuesday and Thursdays are our field trip days and we do not offer half days as we spend the majority of the day away from the school. We also offer a per-day rate, however, due to space registration for these days is still required.

Cost Schedule

Childcare subsidy may be applied to program fees. Please note that all fees must be paid in advance to ensure space for you child in the program.
