Weekly Schedule

Wilderness Skills
Learning from Nature
On every Wednesday during our summer program we head up to Summit Park, a local garry oak meadow ecosystem. This allows us to watch the changes in the habitat of the park over the summer (including watching the blackberries get ripe). We participate in a weekly ritual sit spot, which involves spending some solo quiet time with nature. We also often play games that encourage children to develop kinship with the ecosystem around them.
Workshops and Activities
Learning in the Classroom
Each week we provide regular workshops and on-going activities that have a focus on supporting continued academic learning and fun. We strive to help children learn the skills they need to communicate, think and act creatively, and develop into responsible ecological citizens.
During the summer, when we spend the day at the school, we have regular activities and workshops throughout our day.
- Weekly Activities and Workshops
- Active Play is our daily time for some structured physical activity. We play a variety of sports and games, such as soccer or tag, but we always reach consensus about what to play.
- Reading Siesta is a daily quiet time to sit and read a book and work on reading skills.
- Puzzles & Games is a weekly activity where we can explore math through multi-aged activities.
- Community Investigations is a weekly workshop where we invite a member of the community to teach us something new.
- Themed Workshops are centred around each themed week, and include a variety of topics throughout the summer.
Please see our weekly themes for more information on when workshops and activities are scheduled to take place during the week.
